A Desert Marathon

What to do when they cancel the marathon you had trained for?  Our friends asked this question recently and the obvious answer for them was: of course, you run your 26 miles in nearby desert hills, through sheep and their Bedouin shepherds!  And you do all this on a hot day wearing appropriate local dress.  We, the proud fans, turned out to cheer and spend a special day celebrating desert beauty, creativity, and grit.
